The time has come for me to put The Maverick Observer website on a brief hiatus through the end of the year. I believe we are living in a time of history in the United States which is unprecedented. The assault on individual freedoms has never ever been this egregious unless you were a prisoner of war, black, American Indian, or Japanese American during World War II.
In all candor, it is both disheartening and ominous beyond compare. I need to find a more meaningful way to get the attention of the residents of Colorado Springs to engage the elected officials and the bureaucrats in a way that will hold them accountable to the citizens they were elected to represent.
The status of “follow the money” has led this city to a position of horror with disastrous evacuation modeling and unchecked growth. The growth has far outpaced our infrastructure and put our citizens’ safety at risk.
Instead of being a shining example to other cities, we are just another big city with all its inherent problems. At one point this truly was a visionary city. I now believe this is in the past. The future looks bleak. Freedom isn’t ever free so become involved!
During our time of inner reflection and reevaluation, we will continue to monitor our elected officials and city staff. I ask all citizens to stay engaged in our community and look for ways to better their neighborhoods for themselves and others.
