Broadmoor Memories – Elena Bertozzi-Villa

The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colorado has a long and glorious history of providing the very best in dining and accommodations in surroundings that combine the refinement and flair of European design with the raw beauty of the American West. This book takes you from the early days when Pikes Peak overlooked the empty plains to the present, where they provide the backdrop for one of the world’s finest resorts. Photographs on every page with the history of the resort and its guests.

STAFF THOUGHTS:

An accurate history of The Broadmoor from it’s beginnings through 1993. The author has done her homework and presented a spirited picture of one of the truly grand hotels in the world!

The Federalist Papers – Publius

The complete unabridged 1787 original version of the Federalist Papers. A must read for every citizen of our great land. The papers succinctly layout the inner workings of the founding father’s thoughts and actions and prepare the reader for a deeper understanding of the U.S. Constitution.

STAFF THOUGHTS:

This is a comprehensive volume of the thoughts and processes of several founding fathers leading up to the signing of the Constitution.

Introduction to American Citizenship – Thomas Krannawitter

This book contains the full test of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution. A bullet-point guide to the key ideas enshrined in both. And a short, eloquent explanation of the connection between those ideas and the rights and duties inseparable from being a citizen of the United States.

STAFF THOUGHTS:

A wonderful guy who is very adept in using comedy to make people think about the United States. If you ever get a chance to see him in person, it is truly worth the effort!!!

Land of Hope – Wilfred M. McClay

We have a glut of text and trade books on American history. But what we don’t have is a compact, inexpensive, authoritative, and compulsively readable book that will offer to American readers a clear, informative, and inspiring narrative account of their own county. Such an account can shape and deepen their sense of the land they inhabit and, by making them understand that land’s roots, and share in its memories, will equip them for the privileges and responsibilities of citizenship in American society.

STAFF THOUGHTS:

A guy who has written the NEW STANDARD about American history. The history of this country has been under attack for decades in the “hallowed halls” of academia. While America and it’s people are not perfect we still are a bright light that needs to be looked at to understand the legitimacy of our past, however it is!

U.S. Constitution, A Reader – Hillsdale College

The U.S. Constitution: A Reader is made up of original source documents that bear upon the founding of the American republic, the making of its Constitution, and the struggle to preserve that document and govern under it to the current day.

Excellent book to go along with the wonderful, free online courses offered by Hillsdale College.
