A hot topic across the realm of mainstream media outlets is the influence and impact of queer activism on children’s mental health. While this can be so broad in meaning, I think there are important distinctions to be made surrounding this.

Spearheading a concept as broad as homelessness requires a presence of mind, body, and focus. Beth Hall Roalstad, Chief Executive Officer of Homeward Pikes Peak, a Colorado Springs nonprofit which provides housing and recovery services for the chronically homeless. Their programs include support and education groups, substance abuse and addiction treatment, and job-searching assistance. Solving the problem though is anything but a cookie-cutter process.

As co-founder of 1350 Distilling, Jake Weien has always been committed to the stars and stripes within his history. As the son of an airman and himself part of the Air Force Reserves for 25 years, Weien ended up co-founding/co-owning 1350 with his wife, Abbie and their friends, Phill and Kandis Bragg.

The Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind started in the late nineteenth century with a handful of students, 149 years later it continues to serve as a staple in the community. The campus has grown and it now educates hundreds of students through its programs. From its beginning, the school was welcomed and supported by the community making it what it is today. Since its inception, the school has educated people who have moved on to become famous – including some star athletes.
