On a recent cool, autumn afternoon at the bird tree cafe in downtown Colorado Springs, patrons chat on a small patio along Tejon Street. Inside the bustling cafe is a large sign offering salads, sandwiches, coffee, and even liquor. Despite the absence of any signs for CBD products, the bird tree cafe, like many businesses in the city, offers CBD products to their customers.

Colorado’s first population boom occurred in the mid- to late-1800s when gold and other precious minerals were found in the state. But then, when the gold rush slowed, a second population surge hit the state due to thousands across the country suffering from tuberculosis.

In late 2019, a group of parents in Woodland Park got together to form a school in order to give local parents more school options. The pre-pandemic move came about as the parents noticed several families choosing schools in the Colorado Springs area instead of the local school district. The parents wanted a local choice where students were given a more classical approach to learning.

In 2012, Colorado voters approved Amendment 64, which legalized recreational marijuana for anyone 21 or older. As Colorado was one of only two states to make this move (the other was Washington), the impact of this legalization was unknown.

Tracking the progression of a growing city like Colorado Springs while spreading positivity in its businesses is no small feat for an influencer when many such reviewers might try to tear businesses down negatively. The key sometimes to longevity for such a pursuit is being "authentic" without compromising the identity or throughline of the blog or platform being created.
