Sous Vide

I am very fortunate my wife is a great cook. She likes to try many different recipes and all types of cuisines. I would say her success rate for my tastebuds is at least 98%.

But she does have an ongoing issue. Every once in a while, she is stubborn about adding tools/utensils to her arsenal.

This came to light over the period of two years as two other welled healed foodie couples extolled the virtues of a Sous Vide. While she heard story after story of praise from all of these people, she firmly opined the position of not needing any more “things in the kitchen.”

After months of reflection, she finally caved. After she purchased it took another two more week for her to try it. Why? She, like me hated having to download an application to control a device. Our age plays a role in this one.

Finally, the day came and you might have guessed, she really likes this device. Her test was one hard boiled egg. She wanted to make sure the app worked and more importantly that she understood how it worked. Then on to the main course, beef. Of course beef was what was for dinner that evening and the Sous Vide delivered a mostly done piece of beef to the cast iron skillet for a final sear. Now, I am still working on an air fryer for the tater tots! Hopefully, this won’t take another two years!
