In the Gazette on Sunday, February 7th, Mayor Suthers called the Space Command decision “comical”. He stated, “It’s either a document that was meant to achieve a political end or it’s a very flawed analysis.”
The Mayor of Colorado Springs has promoted several flawed issues in Colorado Springs. Don’t forget we have a strong Mayor form of government promoted and funded by builders and developers.
Several issues have had a bad analysis that benefits special interest groups over the taxpaying public.
- The Banning Lewis building requirement redo. Comical yes, but detrimental to the city.
- The Stormwater lawsuit. Comical but a lot of money was spent on legal fees.
- Special Districts. These entities allow builders and developers to get away with “taxation without representation”. Another issue is the openness of the accounting for a “quasi-government” entity.
Comical maybe, but all these issues have a direct cost to the citizens of Colorado Springs. In my opinion, there is not anything comical at all!
