I have a problem with the folks doing the planning for the roads in Colorado Springs. I was reminded again after seeing the “proposed planning” for Platte Avenue. I believe these folks do not really want citizens input, but in fact want “road dieting” at all costs. And to force feed us alternative transportation, like bikes.
I am tired of this diatribe. In case too many of these folks are young or are from major city “planning firms” you need to understand Platte Avenue is one of the VERY FEW east/west streets. But what the hey, use your socialist/totalitarian mindset to tell us we should not have the ability to drive our cars when and where we want to. We are catering to 0.63% of commuters who bike out of a approximate population of 464,871 (2019). This equates to approximately 3,000 folks who may ride their bikes.
Stop it, stop it, enough already. If the Platte Avenue issue is anything like the road dieting issues in the past, I challenge you to have an in-depth conversation presenting both sides of the issue, not just the “socially correct” b.s. you folks continually present.
The whole road use thing should not revolve around the 0.63% folks who ride bikes again. We need solutions, not fewer lanes.
