In the Gazette on Sunday, February 7th, Mayor Suthers called the Space Command decision “comical”. He stated, “It’s either a document that was meant to achieve a political end or it’s a very flawed analysis.”

The Mayor of Colorado Springs has promoted several flawed issues in Colorado Springs. Don’t forget we have a strong Mayor form of government promoted and funded by builders and developers.

Several issues have had a bad analysis that benefits special interest groups over the taxpaying public.

  1. The Banning Lewis building requirement redo. Comical yes, but detrimental to the city.
  2. The Stormwater lawsuit. Comical but a lot of money was spent on legal fees.
  3. Special Districts. These entities allow builders and developers to get away with “taxation without representation”. Another issue is the openness of the accounting for a “quasi-government” entity.

Comical maybe, but all these issues have a direct cost to the citizens of Colorado Springs. In my opinion, there is not anything comical at all!
