We made our Oreo Rice Krispie Treats with a festive flair for Halloween!
Background: These Halloween Oreo Rice Krispie Treats are perfect treat for the upcoming holiday. They’re easy to make and delicious! When we are entertaining we like recipes that are quick and simple and this one is it. Everyone loves a good Rice Krispie treat and this variation with Oreo cookies is a crowd pleaser. We used the orange Oreo cookies and Rice Krispies they put out for Halloween to transform this dessert for the spooky season. You can make it with regular ingredients throughout the year or switch up with seasonal options to cater to all the holidays.
- 1 package Oreo cookies – we used the seasonal Halloween Oreo cookies with orange filling
- 5 cups Rice Krispies cereal – we used the seasonal orange colored version
- 4 cups mini marshmallows
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- Butter a 9×13 dish.
- Take 6-8 of the Oreos and roughly chop them. Set aside.
- Separate the filling from the remaining Oreos. We use a butter knife. Put the filling in a medium bowl. Add the cookies to a large Ziploc bag and use a rolling pin or mallet to crush them into medium-fine crumbs.
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter, mini marshmallows, and Oreo cream filling together. After completley melted, add the vanilla extract and mix well.
- Add the Rice Krispies and crushed Oreo crumbs to the marshmallow mixture and gently mix until well combined. Add the roughly chopped Oreos and mix until combined.
- Pour mixture into your prepared dish and press down using a buttered spatula or with buttered wax paper until even in dish.
- Let cool, then cut into squares.
