Well, I finally found an exercise I enjoy enough to do three to five days a week – Pickleball. It is funky, it is different, it is weird. Think ping-pong racket, badminton rules, and a perforated plastic ball like a wiffle ball but slightly heavier. That is pickleball, created in 1965 by Joel Pritchard, congressman from Washington State to engage his family in a fun activity they could all enjoy.
I believe this will work for me, but I will still need more exercise for this 69-year-old body weekly to please a doctor of mine. He is never satisfied and always looking for more exercise and sugar deprivation.
I have been taking lessons from an instructor for three hours a week for the last six weeks and researching the best equipment. So far, I’ve bought racquets, balls, bags, and shoes – trying them out and deciding on the ones that will work for me.
When I was young, I played a lot of tennis so that experience has helped me a little with my stroke and follow through, but the rest of game is a mystery and I have a lot to learn. I won’t be challenging anyone to a game just yet.
I will keep you posted on my progress, stay tuned.

Go Hoiles we need you to get ready to challenge Harvey our resident champion. Art Hagan.
Thank you for the encouragement!
