These Football Stadium Sugar Cookies are perfect for Super Bowl or a football themed party!

Background: We created these Football Stadium Sugar Cookies using our winning recipe. They are soft, tasty, and never spread. Not only do they look good, but they taste even better! This sugar cookie recipe never disappoints. We love to make them during the football season for BBQs and events. They’re always a big hit for Super Bowl parties and you can change out the sprinkles to represent your team. Chilling the dough is a step that you don’t want to skip because it’s key to preserving the shape of your cookies without spreading.

  • 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4-5 teaspoons milk
  • 3-4 teaspoons light corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • green food coloring
  • nonpareils that represent your team’s colors
  1. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together, set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and white sugar with a hand mixer or stand mixer until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla. Gradually blend in the sifted ingredients until fully absorbed. Cover and chill dough for 2 hours.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper. On a clean, floured surface, roll out small portions of chilled dough to 1/4″ thickness. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters.
  4. Bake 6-7 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are barely brown. Remove from the cookie sheets and cool on wire racks.
  5. For the icing, combine powdered sugar, milk, corn syrup and almond extract in a bowl. Whisk until smooth. I made two batches, leaving one white and used the food coloring to make one green. I like to use these squeeze bottles for easier icing, but you can also use piping bags.
  6. Mix sprinkles in a small cup or bowl and set aside.
  7. Using the white icing, ice half the cookie and immediately cover in the sprinkles. Place on cooling rack to set up.
  8. After the sprinkle side is set, ice the other side of the cookie using the green icing and place back on cooling rack to set up.
  9. Add the yard lines on the green (grass) side and allow to set up.
